Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Quits NNPP Amid Political Realignment

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has resigned from the NNPP citing prolonged internal crises and legal disputes within the party. The resignation, effective January 25, 2026, was communicated in a letter to the NNPP chairman.

Yusuf expressed gratitude for the party's support but highlighted persistent leadership disputes and court cases that have destabilized the party. His exit was accompanied by the resignation of 21 members of the Kano State House of Assembly and eight local government chairmen.

The move reflects a significant political realignment in Kano State.
