Cross River Governor Urges Action on Insecurity Threats in Local Government Areas

Governor Bassei Otu of Cross River State emphasized the critical need to address the escalating insecurity issues in the state during a meeting with 18 local government council chairmen in Calabar. The governor highlighted the risks posed by cult clashes, kidnappings, armed robberies, and illegal mining activities, particularly in areas like Yakurr LGA and Akamkpa LGA.

The chairmen, led by Yibala Inyang, commended Gov. Otu's proactive approach and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, although specific security strategies were not disclosed.
