Biodun Oyebanji Dissolves Boards and Sacks Appointees

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions, and parastatals within the state, alongside the termination of several political appointees, including special assistants, senior special assistants, and technical assistants. This decision, communicated by the Governor's special adviser on media, Yinka Oyebode, is a strategic move as the governor approaches the end of his first term, with his second term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.

Notably, the dissolution does not affect the chairmen and members of statutory boards such as the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), the Civil Service Commission, the House of Assembly Service Commission, and the Judicial Service Commission. Additionally, the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will remain intact.

The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Local Government Service Commission, and the Teaching Service Commission will also retain their positions despite the dissolution of their respective boards. Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration.
