Sam Amadi Criticizes Governors' Defection to APC, Warns of Federalism Undermining

Sam Amadi, a former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, expressed concern over the increasing number of state governors defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria. He criticized this trend, stating that it goes against the idea of state creation in Nigeria, where states were meant to have their resources and pursue development independently.

Amadi argued that the rush of governors to align with the ruling party reflects a deeper structural failure in Nigeria's economic and political framework. He questioned whether Nigeria is regressing towards an overly centralized system of governance.

The defections have affected states like Delta, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Rivers, Enugu, Kano, Plateau, and Taraba.
