Gunmen Attack Zamfara Governor's Chief of Staff's Convoy

On Thursday, at approximately 6:16 PM, gunmen attacked the convoy of Alhaji Mouktar Lugga, the chief of staff to the Zamfara state governor. The attack took place along the Funtua-Gusau highway near Kucheri Village while Lugga was returning to Gusau after official engagements.

Sources indicate that the assailants emerged from the side of the road and opened fire on the vehicle carrying Lugga, his driver, and another occupant. Bullets reportedly pierced the vehicle's windshield, narrowly missing the driver.

Despite the close-range attack, the driver managed to steer the vehicle away from the ambush, and all occupants escaped unharmed. This incident highlights ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State, where banditry and violent attacks have been prevalent.
