Havertz Scores Late Penalty to Secure Draw for Arsenal

In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 tie at BayArena, Arsenal managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen. The match saw Arsenal fall behind when Robert Andrich scored from a corner delivered by Alex Grimaldo just after the second half began.

Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, who made ten changes to the team that comfortably defeated Mansfield in the FA Cup, introduced Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz from the bench. Havertz, a former Bayer Leverkusen player who transferred to Chelsea for £71 million in 2020, equalized for Arsenal by converting a penalty in the 89th minute after Madueke was brought down by Malik Tillman.

Despite the draw, Arsenal remains unbeaten in the Champions League this season and will look to advance in the return leg next Tuesday.
