Nollywood Stars Mourn Francis Duru's Passing at 57

Francis Duru, a notable Nollywood actor, passed away at the age of 57 on Friday after a brief illness. His death is described by colleagues as a tragic and heartbreaking loss, particularly poignant as it comes two years after he lost his 15-year-old son, Ifeanyi.

Many Nollywood stars have taken to social media to pay tribute to Duru. Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo referred to him as a complete actor and one of Nigeria’s most versatile performers, stating, “A consummate actor has left the stage.” Actress Stephanie Linus expressed her sorrow, praying for strength for Duru’s family, while Mercy Johnson-Okojie admitted to being overwhelmed by the loss.

Kate Henshaw reflected on the brevity of life and prayed for Duru’s eternal rest. Duru gained fame for his role as Ahanna in Amaka Igwe’s classic film, ‘Rattlesnake’, and had a career that spanned over three decades in the Nollywood industry.
