Akpabio's Leadership Strengthens Nigeria's Electoral Act

Godswill Akpabio, as President of the Senate, has played a crucial role in securing Nigeria's electoral future by overseeing the re-enactment of the Electoral Act. This legislation is designed to enhance the electoral process while addressing concerns about disenfranchisement and technological reliability.

Akpabio articulated that the National Assembly undertook a thorough process to ensure the act reflects the country's infrastructural limitations and judicial precedents. He emphasized the importance of maintaining manual voting and counting processes alongside new technological innovations, such as the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVA) and the Independent Results Viewing (IRev) portal.
