Presidency Accuses Adeyemi of Forging Economic Council Documents

The Presidency has accused Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi of forgery related to the establishment of a non-existent Presidential Economic Advisory Council. According to a statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Adeyemi allegedly forged official documents that misled the Accountant-General’s office into opening an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

This fictitious council purportedly operated under the guise of a legitimate government agency and hosted meetings with foreign Nigerian citizens, even requesting assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for visa facilitation. The Chief of Staff to the President, in a letter dated October 17, 2025, called for a probe by the Department of State Services and the police into these fraudulent activities.

The letter emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in this forgery, which undermines the integrity of the Presidency and the credibility of government operations.
