Human Rights Lawyer Questions Hisbah Rice Distribution

Barrister Musa Abubakar Tudunwada, a human rights lawyer, has announced his intention to formally request clarification from Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the commander of the Kano State Hisbah Board, regarding the distribution of rice donated by the Kano State government. This rice, reportedly provided by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as part of a Ramadan welfare support initiative, has raised concerns among Hisbah personnel who allege that the distribution was not conducted fairly.

Tudunwada aims to obtain an official account of the distribution process and identify any irregularities that may have occurred. He has warned that if the Hisbah leadership fails to provide a satisfactory explanation, he will escalate the matter by filing a petition with the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Reports indicate that 900 bags of rice were allocated to the Hisbah Board, with specific allocations to various personnel, including 20 bags for the chairman and 18 bags for the deputy director general.
