Hungary Opens Employment Residence Permits for Three Nations

Hungary has officially named three countries—Georgia, Armenia, and the Republic of the Philippines—whose citizens are eligible for an employment residence permit under a new government policy. This policy categorizes qualifying workers as "guest workers" and outlines three specific categories for eligibility.

The first category includes individuals who will perform work under a contract establishing an employment relationship. The second category is for workers with an existing relationship with an employer in a third country, fulfilling an agreement with a Hungarian employer, who is considered the employer of record.

The third category pertains to nationals of a third country as defined in a Government Decree. Citizens from countries not listed must seek alternative immigration routes to work legally in Hungary.

This framework provides a structured legal pathway for foreign nationals, emphasizing genuine, remunerated work rather than self-employment or informal arrangements, particularly benefiting Philippine nationals in accessing employment in Hungary's growing economy.
