Obanikoro Claims Victory in 2007 Lagos Governorship Race

Musiliu Obanikoro, who served as the Minister of State for Defence, expressed his belief that he won the 2007 Lagos State governorship election during an interview on the Mic podcast hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloy. Obanikoro, who contested the election under the platform of the People's Democratic Party, claimed he lost to Babatunde Fashola of the Action Congress.

At 66 years old, he emphasized the need for mentorship among younger Nigerians, citing the decline of family values and the importance of guiding the next generation. He stated he has no regrets about challenging the political structure of former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, asserting that his focus was solely on his ambition to govern.

Obanikoro is currently appointed as the Director General of Obafemi Hamzat's campaign for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
