Former President Goodluck Jonathan recalled the 2015 general election where he could have stopped the election due to repeated failures of the INEC card reader system. In a recent interview, he shared that the card reader rejected his wife and mother at their polling unit, causing frustration.

While the card reader malfunctioned in the South, voters in the North were allowed to vote without accreditation, raising concerns. Jonathan described the situation as highly tense and noted the divide during that time.

He also revealed that there were daily rumors of a coup and threats to his life, prompting him to fear for his safety. Jonathan chose not to stay at the guest house in the State House to avoid potential attacks and false attributions of his death to others.

Instead, he opted for security measures to ensure his safety.
