Ndume Denies Acting as Ransom Intermediary in Kidnapping

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has refuted allegations that he acted as an intermediary between kidnappers and either the government or private individuals. In an interview on ARISE NEWS, Ndume responded to claims made by Samaila Kaigama, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, regarding his involvement in ransom negotiations for the release of abducted residents in Ngoshe, Borno State.

Ndume clarified that his only action was to inform security agencies after Kaigama contacted him about a video from Boko Haram/ISWAP demanding a ransom of N5 billion for the release of 416 abducted residents. He emphasized that he has never participated in ransom negotiations and has consistently opposed such actions.

Ndume also urged security agencies to investigate the allegations, framing the issue as a national security matter. He accused Kaigama of attempting to extort money from families of the abductees, leading him to cease communication with him.
