Nasir El-Rufai Addresses Rift with Bola Tinubu, Denies Friendship Claims

Nasir El-Rufai, in an interview with Trust TV, addressed rumors of a rift with President Bola Tinubu, stating that their relationship was not based on friendship but rather on political differences. El-Rufai explained that his decision to support Tinubu in the 2023 presidential race was guided by political principles and not personal loyalty.

He emphasized that his values of governance do not align with the current administration's focus on personal gain over public service. El-Rufai highlighted that his commitment to serving the public and delivering results contrasts with enriching oneself and appointing cronies.

Despite once supporting Tinubu's emergence as the APC presidential candidate, El-Rufai revealed that their relationship became strained due to sharp differences in leadership styles and values. He also mentioned that he did not accept a ministerial role publicly offered by Tinubu, as their values did not align.
