‘Ikenga: The Last Festival’ Breaks Igbo Box Office Record

‘Ikenga: The Last Festival’ has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the ₦75 million mark at the Nigerian box office, making it the highest-grossing Igbo film of all time, as reported by distributor FilmOne Entertainment on September 7. The film, which opened in cinemas nationwide on August 21, has also been the highest-grossing Nollywood title for three consecutive weeks.

FilmOne attributed this success to the support of moviegoers and described the achievement as a major milestone for the film. The film had a remarkable opening weekend, earning ₦22 million in its first three days, which was noted as the highest-grossing opening weekend for an Igbo film in West Africa.

Directed by Darlington Kelechi, ‘Ikenga: The Last Festival’ features a blend of veteran and contemporary Nollywood actors, including Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwo, Zubby Michael, Beverly Osu, Jide Kene Achufusi, Regina Daniels, and Destiny Etiko.
