Olumide Oyedeji Announces Bid for NBBF Presidency
Olumide Oyedeji, the captain of D’Tigers, has officially declared his intention to run for the presidency of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) during a press conference in Lagos. His announcement follows extensive discussions with stakeholders in the basketball community.
Oyedeji, who has over 30 years of experience in basketball as a player, club owner, administrator, and philanthropist, stated that his motivation stems from a desire to serve rather than personal ambition. He has held various roles, including being a member of the FIBA Players Commission from 2014 to 2019, and he was elected as the South West representative on the NBBF board in 2022.
Currently, he serves as the president of the Nigeria Olympians Association and the third vice president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee. Oyedeji's vision includes revitalizing domestic leagues, enhancing player welfare, and establishing a sustainable system for stakeholders.
He aims to prioritize the health and financial well-being of players and ensure timely payments and comprehensive insurance coverage.
