Bauchi Governor Calls Himself 'Freelance Politician'

Governor Mohammed of Bauchi referred to himself as a "freelance politician" while hosting Peter Obi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, alongside Southeast stakeholders. He highlighted the importance of engaging in broader consultations for national unity and political cooperation, stating that neither the People's Democratic Party (PDP) nor the African Democratic Congress (ADC) can operate independently.

Governor Mohammed noted ongoing discussions among political actors aimed at forming new alliances ahead of future elections, emphasizing that the current political situation requires a unified platform. He described Obi's visit as a symbolic effort to bridge regional divides and promote national cohesion.

The purpose of Obi's visit was to solicit support and cooperation among stakeholders, particularly in Bauchi State, to foster unity in the country. Obi dismissed speculation about political defections, clarifying that the meeting was not about inviting political parties but rather about building a better Nigeria.
