Imam Who Saved Christians During Plateau Attack Dies at 90

Imam Abubakar, known for shielding Christians during a deadly communal clash in Plateau, has died at 90. His son, Saleh Abubakar, revealed that the Imam had heart issues and passed away at Plateau Specialist Hospital.

Abubakar saved 262 Christians by hiding them in a mosque during the conflict, earning awards for his courage, including the International Religious Freedom Award from the US Department of State in 2019. His funeral took place in Nghar village after the Jumma prayer.
