IMF to Discuss Nigeria's Economic Outlook with Senate

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is set to engage with Nigeria's Senate regarding the country's economic outlook and the reform programs implemented by President Bola Tinubu's administration. This high-level engagement is part of the IMF's ongoing Article IV consultation with Nigeria, scheduled to take place from March 4 to March 17, 2026.

The Senate leadership will meet with the IMF mission team to discuss Nigeria's economic management framework and potential support for the federal government's sweeping economic reforms. The notice was read by Senate Clerk Emmanuel Odo during a plenary session, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin confirmed the engagement.

The IMF's mission aims to provide deeper insights into Nigeria's economic outlook and ensure robust legislative participation. Additionally, the Senate confirmed several nominations, including Usman Dakingari as a non-career ambassador and Ismail Abba Yusuf as the chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
