Agbese Urges Unity Against Insecurity, Critiques Resignation Calls

Opposition Representative Philip Agbese, representing the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, addressed the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, criticizing calls for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's resignation as politically motivated. Agbese argued that such demands undermine efforts to tackle insecurity and that a collective national response is necessary.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between political leaders and security agencies, urging them to focus on practical solutions rather than partisan attacks. Agbese responded to comments from Labour Party Deputy Spokesperson Fred Agbedi, who had called for Tinubu to resolve the nation's security and economic challenges or resign.

The opposition lawmaker stressed that the current administration must continue to invest in security operations and strengthen the capabilities of security agencies. He called for public support for the military, highlighting their sacrifices in combating terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, and urged all political leaders to prioritize national interest over partisan considerations.
