Ministry of Interior and Pi-CNG to Boost CNG Adoption

The Ministry of Interior, led by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Pi-CNG, represented by Barr.

Ismaeel Ahm, have proposed the establishment of a high-level working group to accelerate the adoption of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Nigeria. This proposal was made during a meeting in Abuja, focusing on aligning the initiative with the Ministry's mandate, which includes oversight of 264 centers for civil defense and the Nigeria Immigration Service, as well as managing the country's 4,000-kilometer national border.

The collaboration aims to promote cleaner and more affordable energy while improving operational efficiency and achieving substantial cost savings. Dr.

Tunji-Ojo directed the immediate formation of a structured working group, which will be led by the Ministry's director and include representatives from relevant agencies. The group's objectives will include fleet conversion to CNG, establishing credit facilities, and building training capacity.

Barr. Ismaeel Ahm commended the Ministry's efforts to deliver sustainable outcomes and emphasized the importance of promoting cleaner, renewable energy in Nigeria.
