IPI Nigeria to Immortalize Late Treasurer Salami with University Prize

The International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria announced its decision to immortalize the late Treasurer Salami by establishing a prize in her honor at the University of Abuja. Salami, a former assistant director at Voice of Nigeria, was commended for her exemplary dedication to journalism.

The announcement was made during the first annual conference of IPI Nigeria in December 2024, with the official confirmation taking place at the 2025 annual general meeting. Salami, who served as the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the Federal Capital Territory, was remembered for her courage and selfless service.

The prize aims to inspire young journalists to uphold the values Salami embodied throughout her career.
