IPPG Advocates Reforms to Boost Nigeria's Energy Sector

During the 25th NOG Energy Week in Abuja, the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) called for bold reforms to unlock Nigeria's full energy potential. IPPG Chairman Adegbit Falad commended the federal government for its reforms that have revitalized investor confidence and increased oil production, which has attracted significant upstream investment.

He noted Nigeria's improved production profile and the record investment commitments that demonstrate the impact of collaborative efforts between the government and regulatory bodies. Falad stressed the importance of seizing investment opportunities to accelerate gas development and strengthen the entire energy value chain.

He warned that recent global geopolitical disruptions have shown that countries lacking sufficient production capacity are unable to capitalize on emerging opportunities. Falad called for a competitive operating environment, including harmonizing multiple tax levies across sectors, and a comprehensive review of the Petroleum Industry Act to reflect the evolving realities of the industry.

He reaffirmed IPPG's commitment to working with the government and stakeholders to build a resilient, investment-friendly energy sector capable of driving sustainable economic growth and long-term energy security.
