Trump Cancels Pakistan Talks Amid Iran Tensions

On Sunday, President Donald Trump canceled a planned trip to Pakistan aimed at discussing ongoing tensions with Iran, stating that there was no point in continuing discussions he described as unproductive. The decision to call off the trip came shortly after the United States received a new version of a proposal from Iran, which was deemed unsatisfactory.

The delegation expected to travel included Jared Kushner, a special envoy, and Steve Witkoff. Trump argued that prolonging travel talks without progress was unnecessary and did not signal an immediate return to hostilities.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abba Araghchi concluded a visit to Islamabad, where he met with Pakistani officials as part of ongoing regional diplomacy. Araghchi described the visit as productive but expressed skepticism regarding Washington's intentions.

Pakistan reiterated its readiness to support efforts toward a diplomatic resolution to the heightened tensions in the region.
