Zinox's Ekeh Advocates for Local Tech Capacity in Nigeria

Leo Stan Ekeh, the Chairman of Zinox Technologies, has highlighted the critical need for local capacity building in Nigeria's technology sector in light of the recent escalation of the US-Israel conflict with Iran. This conflict has disrupted global energy markets, resulting in oil prices exceeding $100 per barrel and a 35% increase in fuel costs at Nigerian pumps.

Ekeh pointed out that Nigeria, despite being Africa's largest crude oil producer, is vulnerable to global energy shocks that extend beyond the energy sector, particularly affecting technology. He urged support for indigenous companies like Zinox, which focuses on local assembly and manufacturing of computer hardware and digital devices.

Ekeh stated that this approach would not only reduce reliance on foreign imports but also create jobs, transfer knowledge, and strengthen national capacity. He emphasized that developing local manufacturing capabilities is essential for Nigeria to navigate the complexities of the global landscape and achieve economic stability and technological sovereignty.
