Iran National Football Team Arrives in Mexico for World Cup

The Iran National Football Team is scheduled to arrive in Mexico on June 7, 2026, for the World Cup, following a departure from Antalya, Turkey, on June 6. The team will be based in Tijuana, Mexico, during the tournament.

The squad has been training in Antalya since May 18 while awaiting US visas necessary for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19. Iran's team, known as Team Melli, is drawn in Group G, where they will face New Zealand and Belgium in Los Angeles on June 15 and 21, respectively, followed by a match against Egypt in Seattle on June 26.

The Iranian Football Federation's chief, Mehdi Taj, expressed expectations that the team would receive their visas by Tuesday or Wednesday. The team plans to shift its base to Tucson, Arizona, near the northwestern Mexican border, ahead of their departure.
