Ireland Offers Fast-Track Permanent Residence for Foreigners

The Irish government has announced four distinct pathways for foreign nationals to achieve permanent residence in Ireland in less than five years. The first pathway allows individuals who retire after qualifying employment or residency to apply if they have been employed in Ireland for at least one year or have lived there continuously for three years.

The second pathway is for those who stop working due to an inability to work for reasons unrelated to workplace incidents, provided they have worked continuously for at least two years before ceasing employment. The third pathway offers eligibility to individuals who can no longer work due to a workplace accident or occupational illness, with no minimum residency period required.

Lastly, the fourth pathway is for foreigners who become cross-border workers in another EU country, allowing them to qualify if they have worked continuously in Ireland for at least three years prior to moving. Each route has specific requirements that applicants must meet.
