Isaac Fayose Accuses Okowa of ₦1.3tr Fund Diversion

Isaac Fayose, an internet personality and brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, publicly criticized former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for allegedly diverting approximately ₦1.3 trillion belonging to the Delta State Government. In a video posted on his Facebook page, Isaac Fayose condemned the lack of accountability for governors, stating that Okowa, who is reportedly seeking a return to the Senate, has not faced repercussions for his alleged actions.

He highlighted the broader issue of legalized corruption in Nigeria, mentioning the struggles of citizens facing hunger. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed that on October 15, 2024, Okowa was arrested and interrogated for a week regarding the alleged diversion of funds, specifically the 13% derivation fund from the federation account between 2015 and 2023.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the investigation and detention of Okowa.
