Badejo-Okusanya Vows to Resign if NBA Election Rigged

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, the President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), declared her willingness to resign if credible evidence surfaced indicating that the election that appointed her was rigged. In an interview on TVC News, she responded to allegations from some contestants and lawyers claiming that the 2026 NBA presidential election was manipulated in her favor.

Badejo-Okusanya emphasized that the election, conducted via electronic voting, underwent extensive scrutiny and showed no signs of manipulation, stating that there were no indications of vote dumping or sudden spikes in votes. She maintained that she consistently led the election without any drop in her vote count.

Addressing comparisons to former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who acknowledged flaws in his election, she reiterated her commitment to resign if any allegations of a compromised process arose. She also dismissed claims that she was the preferred candidate of outgoing NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN, and asserted that her family ties to the Federal Government would not compromise the NBA's independence.
