Leeds United's Schmidt Chooses Switzerland Over Nigeria, Ineligible for Super Eagles

Leeds United defender Isaac Schmidt is no longer eligible to play for the Nigerian national team, Super Eagles, as he has committed his international future to Switzerland. Schmidt, who made an appearance for Switzerland in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, has chosen to represent the Swiss national team over Nigeria.

Born to a Nigerian mother and a German father, Schmidt was previously eligible to play for Nigeria, Germany, or Switzerland. His decision follows in the footsteps of other dual-national players who have opted to represent countries other than Nigeria.

Schmidt is currently on loan at Werder Bremen from Leeds United.
