ISIEC Reschedules Imo Local Government Elections to November

The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has announced that the Local Government Council elections in Imo State will now take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026. This decision follows the earlier postponement of the elections that were originally scheduled for September 26, 2026.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of ISIEC, Chief Charles Ejiogu, who indicated that the new date was determined after a series of consultations with the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Imo State Chapter. Chief Ejiogu also mentioned that an expanded stakeholders’ meeting would be convened soon to release the amended election timetable and electoral guidelines resulting from the postponement.
ISIEC expressed its apologies to political parties, chairmanship and councillorship aspirants, stakeholders, and the general public for any inconvenience caused by the delay. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible election across the state.
