Israel Strikes Tehran Oil Depots, Escalating Conflict

On Saturday, Israel launched its first attack on Iran's energy infrastructure, targeting oil storage facilities in Tehran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed that the airstrike was based on intelligence gathered, hitting several fuel storage complexes belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

This operation marks a significant escalation in the conflict that began on February 28, following a joint US-Israeli airstrike that killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The strike resulted in flames and thick smoke rising over Tehran, particularly affecting the southern Shahr Reza district, although Iranian media reported that the main oil refinery was not damaged.

The military operation has sent shockwaves through the global energy market, causing a surge in Brent crude futures. While Israel has targeted Iran's oil infrastructure, Iran has indicated it will refrain from attacking neighboring countries unless the conflict escalates further.
