Nigerian Army Defeats ISWAP Attack in Borno State

On October 8, troops of the Nigerian Army engaged in a fierce battle against suspected Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists at a military position in Kukawa, Borno State. The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, Mohammed Goni, reported that over 25 terrorists were killed during the assault.
The insurgents launched a coordinated attack on the 101 Special Forces Battalion from four different directions. However, the soldiers, supported by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, mounted a strong defense, employing superior firepower and tactical maneuvers.
The terrorists were ultimately forced to retreat, suffering heavy casualties. Preliminary assessments indicated that 14 bodies of the terrorists were recovered, along with a cache of arms, including six AK-47 rifles.
Regrettably, some soldiers also lost their lives during the encounter, which underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the military in combating terrorism in the region.
