Kaugama LGA Vaccinates Over 3,000 Livestock Against Disease

The Kaugama Local Government Area in Jigawa State has launched a vaccination initiative aimed at immunizing 3,105 domestic animals against pulmonary disease. This exercise, flagged off on Saturday by Nasir Ibrahim, Head of Department, Agriculture and Natural Resource, is a response to reported cases of the disease among livestock in Cumbuleske, Ganuwa, and Rigar Kwagga communities.

The affected animals include 2,045 cows and 1,060 sheep and goats. Ibrahim stated that the local government has procured necessary vaccines and logistics to prevent future outbreaks.

He explained that the disease can be caused by bacterial pneumonia, lungworms, and toxic environmental factors. The council plans to monitor the situation and extend vaccinations to other communities if necessary.

Sha’aibu Adamu, Chairman of Kautal-Hore Association, praised the council's prompt action, while beneficiaries Umaru Bello and Maigari Alto expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, which they believe will help protect their livestock and livelihoods.
