PDP Holds 2025 National Convention in Ibadan Amidst Absences and Tensions

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) conducted its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, despite the absence of key figures like Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun and Agbu Kefa of Taraba. Notable attendees included governors like Ahmadu Fintiri, Caleb Mutfwang, Bala Mohammed, and others.

The convention proceeded despite internal crises and court orders, with a faction led by Umar Damagum defying a court ruling. The absence of Adeleke and Kefa heightened tensions within the party, especially as the party faces challenges of unity and strength.

The Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered a halt to the convention until former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido was allowed to purchase a nomination form to contest for the position of national chairman, but the party proceeded with the convention without his inclusion.
