Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation and vice presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), publicly expressed his grief following the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, who was 89 years old. On Monday night, he posted a photograph of himself with his late mother on his official X account, marking his first public activity since her passing.

The post, which included the hashtag #NewProfilePic, attracted numerous condolence messages from supporters, friends, and political associates. In the days following her death, several prominent political and religious leaders visited Amaechi's residence to offer their sympathies.

Notable visitors included former Senate President David Mark, former Edo State Governor John Odigie-Oyegun, and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, among others. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar sent a delegation to convey his condolences.
