Boko Haram, ISWAP Clash Leaves Over 200 Dead Near Lake Chad

A deadly clash between Boko Haram and ISWAP near Lake Chad has left over 200 dead, mainly ISWAP militants. The fight broke out in the Dogon Chiku area, known for being a hotspot for rival jihadist factions.

Babakura Kolo, a member of the local militia, reported that around 200 ISWAP terrorists were killed in the battle. Saddiku, a former Boko Haram fighter who renounced violence, confirmed the casualty estimates and reported the seizure of several weapons.

The clash, considered one of the worst between the two groups, began with an attack by ISWAP on Saddiku's location in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. The split between Boko Haram and ISWAP in 2016 due to ideological differences has led to repeated battles for influence and territory around the Lake Chad basin.
