EFCC Presents 13 Exhibits in Trial of Ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has submitted 13 exhibits during the ongoing trial of ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello at the FCT High Court. Olomotan Egoro, a Compliance Officer at Access Bank PLC, testified with 10 prosecution witnesses, presenting financial documents such as account statements linking Bello to transactions involving the Kogi State Government House administration and contractors.
Kemi Pinheiro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, objected to the admission of the documents, citing non-compliance with the Evidence Act. The defense argued against the premature speculation of the prosecution.
Egoro detailed the inflow and outflow of funds in the government house administrative account, mentioning transactions with Fazab Business Enterprise from January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2024. During cross-examination, Paul Daudu confirmed contractual relationships between Fazab Business Enterprise and several local government areas but clarified that Bello did not directly benefit from these transactions.
The trial is set to continue on March 10, 11, and 12.
