Rivers Governor Cancels Independence Day Parade in Port Harcourt, Aligns with Federal Directive

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, canceled the Independence Day parade in Port Harcourt on October 1st, in line with a Federal Government directive. The cancellation was announced by Sir Dede Sampson, citing the need to align with the national decision to suspend traditional Independence Day parades across the country.

The parade was originally scheduled to take place at Sharks Stadium to mark Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary. This move aimed to adhere to the Federal Government's decision and avoid any inconvenience to the public.

The cancellation included activities like the presidential broadcast and cultural programs.
