NDC Clarifies Bless Fubara Not 2027 Gubernatorial Candidate

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has clarified that Bless Fubara, the elder brother of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, is not the party's gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections. Theo Abu Agada, the director of new media strategy for the NDC, made this clarification in response to media reports that incorrectly identified Bless Fubara as the party's standard bearer.

During a Friday night interview on Arise Television's prime time program, Agada dismissed the assertions, emphasizing that the political ambitions of Bless Fubara do not extend to the gubernatorial candidacy. He highlighted the differing political ideologies within the party and stated that the focus should remain on the upcoming gubernatorial primaries scheduled for May 2026.

Two main aspirants for the NDC ticket are Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs, a prominent businessman and former PDP Accord stalwart, and Bless Fubara. The official announcement of the primary results is yet to be made by the NDC's national leadership at the state secretariat.
