Nigeria Airlin Bans Power Banks Onboard Aircraft

Nigeria Airlin has announced a safety advisory that prohibits passengers from using power banks onboard its aircraft. This decision aligns with regulations issued by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) concerning lithium battery devices, which are classified as potentially hazardous materials due to the risk of fire or explosion if improperly handled.

Passengers are advised to carry power banks only in their hand luggage and not in checked baggage. Furthermore, the airline allows a maximum of two power banks per passenger, with each device not exceeding 100 watt-hours.

Passengers are also instructed not to place power banks in overhead compartments and to keep them visible and easily accessible throughout the journey. This advisory is part of a broader effort to maintain a safe cabin environment and ensure smooth travel for passengers, reflecting global aviation standards that have tightened rules regarding power banks following incidents involving these devices in aircraft cabins.
