Shettima Leads NEC Meeting on State Police Decentralization

Vice President Kashim Shettima chaired the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, where state police decentralization to address Nigeria's security challenges was a key topic. The meeting, the first since President Bola Tinubu's call for decentralized policing, was held at the State House in Abuja.

The NEC, comprising 36 state governors, the Central Bank governor, and key ministers, focuses on economic policy coordination but also addresses broader governance issues like security. The session began with prayers led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.

The meeting aims to strategize on tackling Nigeria's worsening insecurity through collaborative efforts among states and the federal government.
