Bola Tinubu Seeks ₦1.15 Trillion Loan for 2025 Budget Deficit

Former Lagos State Governor and political leader Bola Tinubu has requested the National Assembly's approval for a ₦1.15 trillion domestic loan to finance the deficit in Nigeria's 2025 budget. The request was contained in a letter read during a Senate plenary session.

The loan is intended to bridge the funding gap and ensure the full implementation of government programs and projects in the 2025 fiscal plan. The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, referred the request to the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debt for further scrutiny, with a report expected within a week for subsequent action.
