Veteran Nigerian Journalist Dan Agbese Dies at 81

Dan Agbese, a renowned Nigerian journalist and co-founder of Newswatch, died at the age of 81. Born in 1944 in Benu State, Agbese began his career in the late 1960s at New Nigerian newspaper.

He later co-founded Newswatch in 1985 with Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu, and Yakubu Mohammed. Agbese was known for his extensive contributions to journalism and literature, earning recognition for his intellectual rigor.

Despite considering a career in book publishing, he remained dedicated to journalism throughout his life.
