Justice Nwite Breaks Silence On Granting Ex Parte Order To Freeze Kyari’s Jaiz Bank Accounts

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has spoken out about granting an ex parte order to freeze the Jaiz Bank accounts of former NNPC CEO, Mele Kyari. The order was sought by the EFCC to freeze funds totaling in three accounts linked to Kyari's community development foundation.

The EFCC argued that the measure was necessary to aid their investigation into alleged financial misconduct during Kyari's tenure. Justice Nwite explained that he found the application meritorious based on the evidence presented.

Kyari, who was removed from office in April 2025 and replaced by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, continues to deny the allegations of fraud. The case has been adjourned until September 23 for further proceedings.
