Kaduna Hockey Teams Dominate National Championships

Kaduna State's hockey teams, Kada Star and Kada Queen, have solidified their status as leading forces in Nigerian and West African hockey by winning the men's and women's titles at the 2026 National Hockey Super League finals held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. Kada Star defeated Plateau Tigers 3-2, marking their fifth consecutive championship, while Kada Queen successfully defended their title with a 2-0 victory over Plateau Queens.

Earlier in the year, both teams also triumphed at the 2026 Median HF West Africa Invitational Challenge Cup in Accra, Ghana. Mr.

Dorca B. Tanko, Permanent Secretary of the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development, praised the players, coaches, and officials for their dedication and performance.

He attributed the teams' sustained success to the visionary leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani, whose administration prioritizes sports development and invests in athlete welfare and grassroots talent development.
