Kano Court Remands Orphanage Operator Over Child Trafficking Allegations

The Kano State High Court has remanded Ogugua Christoph, the operator of an orphanage in Asaba, Delta State, for allegedly abducting and trafficking children from Kano to Delta. Christoph, along with Hauwa Abubakar and Nkechi Odlyn, faces charges related to child abduction and conspiracy.

The prosecution accused them of abducting several children between June 2016 and December 2021, selling them in Delta State. The court ordered the accused to remain in custody pending the next hearing.

The defense counsel requested NAPTIP to keep the accused in a correctional facility, but the judge declined, directing NAPTIP to produce the absent defendants at the next session.
