Kano Board Closes Nine Schools for Registration Violations

The Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board (KSPVIB) has temporarily closed nine private schools due to non-compliance with revalidation and recertification requirements. Comrade Baba Abubakar Umar, the executive secretary of KSPVIB, announced this during a media parley in Kano.
The affected schools include Zayyad Academy, Success International Schools, Sunshine International School, Perfect Schools, Al-Fa’iq International College, Mainasara International School, Shula Academy, Darul Mu’uminat Comprehensive School, and Hanan International School. Umar stated that the board had identified 111 schools operating in violation of regulatory procedures.
The nine schools will remain closed for seven days from the announcement date, with a warning that any institution reopening without authorization will face legal action. The revalidation and recertification exercise aims to strengthen regulation and ensure compliance with educational standards.
Umar also cautioned against arbitrary fee increases and the compulsory purchase of uniforms and books from school authorities.
