Katsina Security Arrests PoS Operator for Bandit Financing
Security operatives in Katsina State arrested Isiyaku Nasiru, a Point of Sale (PoS) operator and motorcycle spare parts dealer, for alleged involvement in financing a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu. The arrest occurred during operations conducted by the Katsina State Security Watch Corps in Matazu and surrounding communities from Thursday to Saturday.
Alongside Nasiru, three others (Abubakar Sayaya, Nura Baka Sati, and Ubale Mai Cange) were also apprehended. Shamsuddeen Muhammad Sayaya, the chairman of Matazu Local Government Area, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects are under investigation for their connections to the bandit network.
Investigators allege that Nasiru processed between ₦3 million and ₦5 million daily through PoS transactions to support the criminal network, with funds reportedly transferred to an associate involved in procuring weapons and motorcycles for the bandits. During interrogation, Nasiru provided information about the transactions and expressed regret.
Additionally, Abubakar Sayaya confessed to collecting ammunition from Ubale Mai Cange on the orders of a senior bandit commander named Lawal.
